Authors are required to carefully follow the journal submission guidelines, manuscript structure, article format, and reference style before submitting their manuscript to Babakti: Journal of Community Engagement.

Introduction

The objective of this journal is to communicate conceptual concepts or ideas, as well as research results in the field of community services related to science, technology, education, health, engineering, and agriculture. The paper published in this journal implies that the work described has not been, and will not be, published elsewhere, except in abstract form, as part of a lecture, review, or academic thesis.

Babakti: Journal of Community Engagement uses a web-based online manuscript submission and review system. Authors must register and submit their manuscript through the online submission system.

Online Submission Download Article Template Contact Editorial Office

The manuscript must be written and submitted in .doc or .docx format. If authors have any problems with the online submission process, please contact the Editorial Office at babakti@unsika.ac.id.

Before You Begin

To verify originality, authors must conduct a self-plagiarism check using plagiarism detection tools, such as Turnitin or other equivalent tools, and submit the result along with the manuscript submission. Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript has been formatted according to the journal template before submission.

Manuscript

It is important that the file be saved in the native format of the word processor used. All manuscripts should be written and preferably typed using the journal template. Including the body of the manuscript, references, end-notes, tables, and figures, all material should be no longer than ten single-spaced pages. Manuscripts should be written in Bahasa Indonesia and formatted according to the journal submission guidelines.

Babakti requires authors to select the article type and comply with the article-type descriptions defined below. Authors must pay close attention to the word count limits.

1. Research Articles

More than 6000 words and not exceeding 9000 words, excluding references in the full manuscript. These articles present a conceptual framework and/or the application of community engagement programs such as community development, community services, community empowerment, community outreach, and action research. This type of article should have a deep theoretical framework and be more generalizable, not focusing only on single case studies.

2. Review Articles

Review articles comprehensively summarize literature on issues related to community engagement or community engagement programs. The total word count should be more than 5000 words and not exceed 6000 words, excluding references.

3. Case-Based Articles

Case-based articles, including technical articles and policy/practical articles, should be more than 4000 words and not exceed 5000 words, excluding references. This article type describes pioneer techniques likely to be useful for others practicing community engagement. It is suitable for a smaller number of case studies or a single unique or large-scale case study, with stronger emphasis on technical approaches and outcomes.

Abstract

The abstract should contain 150–300 words in one paragraph and should briefly provide information on the following elements:

Background Methods Results and Discussion Conclusion

The background should provide context and state the study objective or hypothesis. The methods should describe the necessary procedures, including study subjects, observational methods, analytical methods, and primary outcomes. The results and discussion should summarize the main findings, while the conclusion should state the principal conclusions and emphasize the new and important aspects of the study in the field of community engagement.

Article Contents

The manuscript should be divided into two files: 1. Title Page, containing the title of the article, authors’ names, affiliations, email addresses, author contributions, and acknowledgements; and 2. Full Manuscript, containing the title, abstract and keywords, introduction, methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.

The title of the manuscript should be clear, concise, informative, and limited to 15 words, including conjunctions. Subtitles, colons, and nonstandard abbreviations are not recommended. Authors should avoid using titles with highly local meanings that may be difficult for global readers to understand.

Authors must remove their names from the Full Manuscript to ensure the double-blind review process. Authors are required to accept the Journal Publishing Agreement when submitting manuscripts to the journal. This agreement covers authorship, originality, and conflicts of interest.

1. Introduction

The introduction should contain research significance and supporting data or scientific evidence based on personal observations or previous studies. It should present the theoretical background, state of the art, research gap, problem formulation, and manuscript objectives. In the context of community engagement, the theoretical basis should relate to community engagement, community development, or community services.

2. Methods

The methods section explains the means used by the author to answer the research problem. It should clearly describe the location and time of the study, population and sample, research variables, research data, and the details of the community engagement program.

3. Results and Discussion

The results and discussion section presents the findings obtained during the study and discusses them systematically. The presentation may include tables, figures, graphs, maps, plans, or schemes. This section should also describe the novelty and implications of the community engagement program for the community. The minimum explanation in this section should range from 40% to 50% of the manuscript.

4. Conclusions

The conclusion should define the novelty of the study, the value of the community engagement program, the benefits for society or the community, and the theoretical contribution of the manuscript. The conclusion should be written in a maximum of three paragraphs.

References

References must be up to date within the last eight years. Manuscripts should include a minimum of 30 references, with at least 50% of the references from journals. The use of proceedings and conference proceedings is not encouraged, and the use of references from predatory journals is forbidden.

References should follow APA Style. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley.
